Balancing Act: Navigating Life, Business, and Motherhood

Hey there, folks! Today, I'm here to share my real deal story as a married parent of two kids, hustling right here in St. Louis City. I'm doing it all solo, from the ground up, and let me tell you, it's a wild ride. But it's also about keeping it real, no sugarcoating, and making it work in a country where everything seems to be stacked against us.

Let's face it, life in this country can be expensive. Whether it's the mortgage, groceries, or just about anything, it feels like your wallet is in a constant race against the bills. But you know what? We only get one shot at this life, and we're not going to let the price tags hold us back.

So, we're putting some amazing vacations on the credit card. Why? Because our kids are still young, and while they're itching to spend time with us, we're determined to create memories that'll stick with them forever. It's all about experiences over stuff, and let me tell you, it's worth every penny.

Now, let's talk about the grind – my business. I'm building it from the ground up, and when I say solo, I mean it. It's just me, folks, doing EVERYTHING related to building a business. No fancy team, no big office, just pure grit and determination.  But one thing keeps me going – intuition.

I've learned to trust my gut in this journey. When you're out there on your own, there's a thousand handbooks for success. But they're not yours. You've got to rely on your instincts, make decisions even when you're not entirely sure, and learn from your mistakes along the way. Intuition is the compass that guides me.

But intuition alone won't cut it. You've got to use what you know. I've been around the block a few times in my industry, and that experience is my lifeline when things get tough. It helps me make informed choices and steer this ship in the right direction.

Of course, it's not all solo action. Building a business takes a village. I don't hesitate to reach out to my support network when I need help. From mentors that are subject matter experts in their respective arenas, to friends who constantly referring me to others, these connections are priceless. Building a business isn't for the weak, but I'll take any help I can get!

But it's not just about the hustle and the grind. It's also about constantly pushing myself to be a better business owner. The business landscape is always evolving, and if you don't keep up, you'll be left in the dust. Try new technology! Psst - Chat GPT helped me write the bones of this blog post. Be open to learning new things. It helps you grow and evolve. It can also help you balance it all.

As my business grows, so does my community and network. St. Louis City is teeming with opportunities to connect with folks who share your vision. I started collaborating with local businesses, showing up at community events, and giving back whenever I could. It's not just about what your business can take; it's about what it can give back to your community. I volunteer and use my resources to help with the PTO and the school district's version of a PTO. I also work to connect nonprofits who have similar missions so they can lean on each other to amplify their causes!

Now, let's circle back to the money issue. Yep, it's a reality check – the cost of living in this country can be a beast. Bills, taxes, and surprise expenses have a knack for piling up. But here's the deal – I've chosen to focus on what really matters. My business, my skills, and my talents aren't just about chasing the greenbacks; they're tools I use to make a difference in dismantling the foundation of our society. And spending time with my kids so as to build the tight relationship where we can have some candid conversations about the world as they grow up. I read once "my inner voice is my Mom's voice." That stuck with me. I get to mold these little dudes into something powerful that can change the world for the better since the odds are they'll be able to enter the decision making rooms with a much lower cost of admission when compared to others.

So, when you're passionate about what you do and believe in the impact you can make, the pursuit of wealth takes a backseat to the pursuit of purpose. We're here to add value to society, help folks reach their full potential, and make a difference. Money is essential, but it's not the only measure of success.

In a nutshell, my journey as a woman building a business from the ground up in St. Louis City is all about finding balance amid all the demands I have. I've been doing my best to balance everything that life throws at me. I've followed my gut, utilized my knowledge, leaned on my support network. Challenges are plentiful, but the rewards extend beyond finances.  It's about following my intuition, using my knowledge, leaning on my support network, and pushing myself to learn and grow. It's about creating memories with my family while we still can and focusing on what truly matters – adding value to society and helping people rise up.
